As well as giving my verdict on all things luxurious and indulgent, my objective on this blog is to showcase the latest and most original brands to enter the market, and the new Peridot collection could be classed as all of the above.

I have to admit I had not heard of the collection myself until I was contacted for a private viewing of the label’s debut range for SS11; however I could now call myself a brand advocate as I totally fell in love with each and every piece.

This new brand was founded by Rachel Wilson, granddaughter of Ernest Asser of the fashion house Turnbull & Asser. For those not aware of the name, Turnbull & Asser were well know through the 60’s and 70’s for dressing some of the royal family as well as outfitting the various James Bond’s on the silver screen, and it is Rachel’s ambition to continue her family’s fashion heritage through her own brand.

Esther Franklin, ex Versace and Max Mara is the designer behind the line and has produced a striking yet extremely wearable collection in jewel rich shades of emerald, copper, blue and coral accented with blacks and navy that hit me as soon as I walked through the door.

The prints in this first collection have been inspired by the artist Jacques Kerchache and his work ‘Hands of Nature’, evident in graphic oversized scarab beetle prints and the use of a colour palette representative of butterflies and vibrant dragonflies, which makes for a stunning combination.

The silhouettes are gorgeously girly and feminine with every piece draping the body for a figure hugging effect, becoming the Bond girl outfits of our era. This fluid shape is achieved either by the cut or with the use of fabrics, such as the exquisite chiffon which is prevalent through the collection.

My personal favourites were the embroidered biker jacket, jewel green chiffon cocktail dress and floor length drape dress with the scarab print, all of which would sit nicely in my wardrobe for me to admire!

What I liked about the collection was it’s versatility as there really is something for everyone, as the line includes smart jackets and tailoring as well as beautiful cocktail dresses and floor length gowns.

The collection will be available online and in the Shop at Bluebird for SS11.
